
HISTORICAL RESUME
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Malhar was established in year 1987. It was started in the building of Primary School Malhar, the temporary site. It was shifted to the new building at permanent site in 1990. The permanent site is situated on Bilaspur –Masturi Malhar road in an area of 30 Acres of land.
The founder Principal was Mr. O. P. Parasar (17.09.87- 30.07.88) . Mr. A.K.Upadhyay work (from 01.08.88 – 04.07.91). Shri J.N.Sharma from 24.09.91 to 18.07.95. Shri R.N. Prasad (from 30.06.95- 02.11.98), Shri O. N. Tripathi (02-11-98 to 18-07-05), Shri R. N. Patra (20-07-05 to 03-06-06) also contributed much. I Took over the charge as Principal I/C on 04 JUNE 2006. The staff sanctioned are 45. While students strength is 445 (295Boys & 140 Girls). 80 students in class VI & 07 in class IX are expected more through admissions. The total tentative strength will be 540 or so in 2007-2008. At +two level there are science & humanities stream. These students have been divided in four houses- Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik & Udayagiri and are looked after by eight House Masters and two house mistress. At present TGT (English) and SUPW teacher are lying vacant.
The Vidyalaya has NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides and Jr. Red Cross units functioning well. All four labs – Physics, Chemistry , Biology & Computer are well equipped. Computer Education Programme has been in function for last 10 years. There are now 38 multi-media computers in the lab, including 16 new computers are recently supplied by the Samiti. This Vidyalaya got Swarn Jayanti Award in 1998 with lab equipments, one computer set (multimedia ) , library books, Rezograph, colour printer etc. Rezograph is on loan to Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti Regional Office Bhopal.
The Vidyalaya library has more than 7000 books for students and staff of the Vidyalaya. Its functioning aims at maximum utilization of library books. Games and Sports department is very rich for facilitating students. Every year nearly 22 students play at National Level and three or four on average at SGFI level. Pace–Setting Coaching Camps and tournaments are organized every year regularly. Multi-Gym with fourteen stations has been installed in 2005.
Health department (Clinic ) is well equipped . Staff Nurse is the In charge of Health club and Jr. Red Cross Unit also. There are other clubs – Reader club, Art club, Literacy club, Science club, philately club, Nature club, Sports club & computer club, Eco. Clubs are functioning & special Harmony club is to be started from this year. USO G.K. Test , Maths Olympiad , Science Olympiad are being given due weight–age to encourage student’s maximum participation. Career guidance cell is working. Every year students of class 9th and 10th participate in Vigyan Paheli Competition Organized by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and NTSE. Maximum number of students of class XII appears for PMT, PET, IIT etc.
The Vidyalaya has plenty of plantation with greenery all around. We have developed a beautiful ‘Sadbhawana Udhyan’. All the students work for dignity of labour Planned Plantation has been taken up with the contribution of Department of forestry Guru Gashi Das University, Bilaspur on three plots which were left barren and unutilized.
So far Sports–grounds – we have one football ground (not much satisfactory ), two handball courts , one basketball court , four volley ball courts, three Kho-Kho grounds, two badminton courts, three kabddi ground. Indoor games facilities are also available (chess, carrorm). Hockey ground is has been developed with the help of Distt. Authorities.
Pace – setting activities are organized regularly by Mr.G.S.Singh ( Art teacher ), Mr. James Toppo PET, Mrs. S . Diamond ( Staff Nurse ),
Mrs. S. Jangde (Comp. Executive). Computer Literacy Programme has been implemented for last four years for outside neighboring schools children by the computer Faculty cum System Administrator. We have published two issues of the Annual school Magazine to provide an encouragement to children for their creativity. Various CCA are organized as per school annual calendar.
We have established parents teachers counsil. Meetings of PTC are being conducted regularly on second Sunday and the parents are informed about the achievements of students in UTs and Terminal Exams. Suggestion box has been placed to know student’s grievances.
The Vidyalaya Museum has been established in year 2002. Mr. G.S.Singh (Art Teacher) is the incharge of this museum. One can see collection of stamps, collection of coins and many other things (like pottery, seals etc.) of archeological importance. The creative art of children in items of idols, peacock, pictures, models etc. is an extra attraction. Mr. Gulab Singh , an ameature in archeological activities, has donated very precious coins, stones , seals pottery etc. Chhattisgarh Philately Association has also donated valuable stamps collection to the Vidyalaya.
Our office has 2 LDCs, one store keeper, one UDC & one OS to manage the affairs of official correspondence, Accounts, stock maintenance etc.
